Spanish motorcyclist stands out in jerez

Italian motorcyclist Loris Capirossi won the Moto GP World Championship in Jerez, in spite of the strong competition of Daniel Pedrosa. Daniel Pedrosa came in second and Nicky Hayden third.
The Italian Valentino Rossi suffered his first setback in many years when that weekend he performed as bad as he never did before, in the training as well as in the race, in which he fell to the floor during the first lap upon being touched from behind by the Spanish Toni Elías.
In the others cathegories, Spanish motorcyclists dominated: Jorge Lorenzo won the 250 cc. race and Alvaro Bautista the 125 cc. race.

Events in Jerez

Dani Pedrosa's spectacular racing career reaches a climax on Sunday, when the three times world champion starts his very first MotoGP race, at the 2006 season opening Spanish Grand Prix.

"I've progressed physically as well, I felt much better at the end of the preseason tests compared to the first time I got on the bike. The exercise you do on the bike, lapping on the circuit, helped me to improve my shape, no doubt about that. There are a few things left to be tested for Jerez; I've hardly been able to practice starts and I've only tested two sets of qualifying tyres so far, but I guess that's normal when you are a MotoGP rookie. I'm not worried and looking forward to the races.
