Lola Montero presents Cadiz of 1812 with a different point of view.

She shows in the Benot Gallery the exposition “Arriving to Cadiz” (Arribando Cadiz) until 8th of January.Galeria Benot
In the beginning of 1812 the most part of the Iberic peninsula was ocuppied by Napoleon’s troops. Cadiz was one of the unique places which resisted against the french army and was the place where the members of parliament met to proclame the Constitution. This document established the basis of the liberal democracy and it put the end to the class society of that time. This is the reason why the city became a symbol of freedom.
The exposition Arriving to Cadiz presents the capital of Cadiz with a point of view of the people who arrived to the city from the sea, in 1812. “What we want to do in this project is to reproduce the scenes which would have taken place in that time and situated them into a place of the city of Cadiz. Some of them did occur and some did not, in fact we have documents of some scenes”.
The exposition which is open until 8th of January is presented moreover with 10 acrylic pictures of “small ship from La Caleta”, explained Lola Montero.

La “Ostionada” and “La Erizá” will be celebrated on 21st and 29th of January

These two great gastronomy celebrations of the Carnival of Cadiz has been already dated for next 2006. These events will be celebrated separately (it used to celebrate them together), because of the busy calendar of general rehearsals. It did not happen so this year because Christmas date were too close to Carnival, and the first coincided with the second one.
“El Molino” Club is preparing its XX Popular “Ostionada” the next 21st of January in the San Antonio Square (where a fish similar to the oysters is given). Seven days after, “El Erizo” Club will develop its XXVI “Erizá” in Cristo de la Misericordia Street (where sea urchin are given).

Costa de la Luz Winds

Cadiz is a great power using energy from the wind. It has installed aero-generators in selected places which are characteristed by strong winds during the whole year.Wind is one of the cleanest renovable energy, which has grown and has been developed last years.
Thanks to Cadiz, Spain has risen to the second place concerning wind power of Europe, and it is similar as United States. It has overcome Denmark, pioneer country of wind exploitation, and has reached all the expectatives. But this is only the beginning because Environment Delegation is studying to place more Wind Energy Parks in Cadiz.
